Day 64: Khotso Horse Trails and Overland Campsite

We take it easy. Enjoy fresh bread and new jams for breakfast :-))

Steve, the owner of Khotso, shows us two owls that he keeps in a large aviary. They are about a year old and he thinks that they can no longer be released into the wild. Great birds. When they focus on something or someone, their gaze actually changes, their pupils dilate. And they let you touch them – their plumage is incredibly fine and soft.

We go on a 14 km hike through the valley, up hills, down hills, but basically completely comfortable. Just the right thing for us, who are now completely untrained. We enjoy the many flowers and the views of the mountains like "The Three Bushmen", which we saw from the other side last week.

To finish, a wonderful cappuccino in the "Balam River Deck", which has made it into every travel guide. We meet Marie Lou, another guest, and Jacky, who is currently volunteering at Khotso. We had a lovely evening together yesterday at dinner.

Today is Halloween – instead of "sweet or sour" we're having delicious South African red wine with our meal.

And by the way: It's a wonderful place here.
