Day 83: Lower Sabie Rest Camp – Satara Rest Camp

Today is the day of big game and beautiful old trees.

Our route from Lower Sabie to Satara takes us almost 100 km on tarmac to the north. It's amazing that you can waste a whole day on that.

We see buffalo several times, once as a large herd with certainly over a hundred animals.

We really see elephants almost everywhere in small groups, family groups and large herds of 20, 30 animals.

And many, many giraffes cross our path.

The landscape changes between dry and wonderfully green – the fresh grass is of course tempting...

We decide to cook today; we are early enough and Cattle Baron has a very meat-heavy menu again.

Btw: Yesterday and today there were picnic sites along the route, some with restaurants, some with cooking facilities. Quite nice as a stop along the way, as are the lookouts where you can get out.

The campsites are a little shabby, if not neglected, but the toilet blocks are clean. But in this heat, you're sweaty again straight away after a shower :-)
