Day 35: Lusaka

Get up at 6:00, set off at 7:00, get stuck in a traffic jam...

When we arrive at the Mulimo Outdoor and Safari Center, there is a brief moment of doubt because it actually looks more like a warehouse than a workshop. But we get our EFS shock absorber replaced, and very routinely. It's not the first time they've done this here. Everything is ready by lunchtime.

And we can see from the old shock absorber that it was time. It's already worn out at the bottom.

We try to get our gas bottle refilled, but Afrox doesn't have an adapter for a 5-liter bottle – a larger one would have been possible. Well, it's still half full and we put the question off.

Now we urgently need something to eat. Mug&Bean in the Manda Hill Mall is a perfect place for this: delicious toast with salad, Coke, cappuccino, chocolate muffin.

We wander around a bit, buy another adapter (Zim/Zam to SA) and a Lavazza coffee as well as a local one.

And: We finally get a really great bird book in the mall! It is about a kilo :-)

Then we meet Carl. Unfortunately he was unlucky and fell over in a stupid pothole and unfortunately broke his collarbone. That means another break of several weeks for him and he has to reconsider his planning.

We chat for a while (again at Mug&Bean, it's just nice to sit there) and then go our separate ways – we'll probably see each other again tomorrow.

When we leave the parking deck we realize that we got in with our height but can't get out. In a very unorthodox way we are instructed to drive backwards out of the driveway – it works! An African solution.
