Day 104: Mokala-National-Park

A wonderfully quiet night at the waterhole. Very nice.

In the morning we have a leisurely breakfast and then set off on a game drive through the park. It is another day full of impressions. We sit for a long time at a waterhole in a bird hide. The waterhole is constantly visited by different animals because of the heat (today too, temperatures are over 40 degrees at times) and dryness. After two more loops, we decide that we want to spend another night in the park. The reception does not have a free campsite, but offers us the opportunity to stay in the bird hide, which we accept (although it is more expensive than a campsite). We drive further routes and loops in the park and see pretty much all the antelope species that occur here and a total of 4 rhinos, one of which still has complete horns.

We cook something at a picnic site in the late afternoon and then drive to the bird hide, which we are officially only allowed to move into from 7 a.m. and have to vacate by 7 the next morning.

We take up position in the bird hide with excitement.
