Day 05: Windhoek

Today we have to work through our list before we set off tomorrow.

First, we get the AdBlue pump running again and are reassured that there is consumption, so it's still working.

We visit 4x4 Safari Engineering and thank them again for the smooth battery replacement and tell them that we may need a new shock absorber for next year, that we may want to add a solar panel to the roof to our electrics and that we need a technical check for our car insurance in April.

We get a third chair for our "passenger" from Bushwackers in November – the smaller and more perfect, the more expensive, as always :-). And we get an LED light replaced without a receipt, which has not survived the rest period from May until now.

We make another – albeit unsuccessful – attempt at Gas It to get an adapter for our gas bottle so that we can refill it in South Africa. We will probably have to say goodbye to the German gas bottle.

We add three more items to our clothing.

And we stock up on canned goods, rice, pasta, polenta, drinks, etc., as we will be spending the first few days in Botswana in rather barren regions. Unfortunately, the import of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as dairy products is prohibited. This is a bit stupid from a logistical and culinary point of view. The fact that meat is also not allowed to be imported doesn't really affect us – we've had more than enough of that in the last few days anyway.

Last but not least, we test our small water pump so that we can fill up filtered water, even if the water source isn't building up any pressure. The whole thing works via a cordless screwdriver, which unfortunately gives up just before filling up would have been completed. Unfortunately, we'll have to go shopping again tomorrow...
