Day 45: Lusaka – Livingstone
It was a good idea to leave Lusaka early on a Saturday. The roads are not very busy and we get through quickly. Today's destination is Livingston, 505 km – it takes us eight hours.
And we've become pros at overtaking the wrong way round, where we often need the passenger to get a feel for the situation.
Livingstone somehow doesn't really appeal to us. We can make out a few old colonial houses, but we're not receptive enough to see the Livingstone Museum today and the railway museum doesn't interest us that much. So we go back and forth through the streets and drive to the Thorn Tree House outside the city.
The campsite is OK for one night but no more. Since we want to move on just as early tomorrow, that's enough for us for today. Cook, eat, shower, write in diary, save tracks and prepare for tomorrow – that's it for today.
We briefly considered crossing the border and heading back to the N1 in Victoria Falls, but after eight hours of driving we were rather listless. We'll manage to get to Bulawayo tomorrow...
