Day 51: Buttle Lake Campground - Ucluelet

In the morning we start slowly. First we have to return to Campbell River. We take a detour to a waterfall. This park is once again sponsored by BC Hydro.

In Campbell River, we have lunch at the Healthy Way, the organic food store we know already.

We quickly ride towards Port Albani on the highway, where from where we head to Tofino/Ucluelet.

At the gas station we meet two Canadian motorcyclists. One guy was incredibly lucky two days ago when his bike was impaled from the back by a car in accident.

The route to the west coast is quite beautiful and winding. We decide to look for a place to stay in Ucluelet, which proves difficult. We want to stay two nights, but find nothing suitable.

On one of our detours from the main road to a some accommodation (many turn out to be nonexistent), we see a large black bear at crossing.

After an unsuccessful search, we decide to ride to Tofino, as we expect more accommodations there, but on the way - when we just arrived at a resort - Brigitte notices that she has lost her glasses. So turning around and hurrying back to the last stop, the office of a resort, which is closing soon. We make it in time, but the glasses are not found. So we spontaneously decide to take a walk-in camping spot at the resort as it's already quite late.

First we have to return to Ucluelet to get some supplies (sandwiches and breakfast). Then back to the the resort, which is really great. Our site on the beach is beautiful and a compensation for the failed accommodation search, despite the horrendous price for one night (about 75 CDN).
