Day 26: Donelly Creek Recreation Site Campground - Kluane Lake

What a wonderful day! A long day but a terrific day!

The night was really cold again. First stop is Delta Junction and after a refuelling stop I continue to Tok. Next stop for refuelling the motorbike and food stop for the driver in the same restaurant I've been before. I'm going for halibut burger and peanut butter cake for dessert. Calories!

I pass the Canadian border smoothly, for the vehicle I do not have to show any papers. Since I have won an hour again, I pass by the first campground. I have to continue another 140 km until the next one is announced. But spontanously I decide to pitch my tent next to the road directly at the beautiful Kluane Lake.

While walking on the beach I discover animal tracks - bears? The next time I have to keep something next to the footprint, which is good for measurig their size. By the way, I also saw wolves or coyotes on the way.

I ask my neighbours about the footprints, and so a another long, nice conversation starts. The two don't known each other for so long and make a first trip together. Nice. She lives in Dawson Creek and he works as a military policeman in Alaska. The people are all very open-minded and friendly. They invite me to her dinner, they are well prepared and feed me. The people I meet here are overwhelming.

I watch my first aurora light tonight. So wonderful, really touching. What a pity that Brigitte is not here.

Tonight again two sleeping bags and thermal underwear. On the other nad no mosquitoes.
