Day 35: Prince George - Hanceville

We are up early after the cold and Wolle prepares the "Wolle's breakfast": fruit with cereals and hot water, yogurt, instant coffee. Hot and tasty.

The first time packing in new logistics needs some time and so we start at 11am. Today, he head to Juri and his family in Hanceville; Wolle already met and visited Juri in Fort McPhearson.

The ride is pretty smokey again. Up to Williams Lake, the landscape is rather monotonous. The ride from there to Hanceville is more interesting because there are mountains and more variety and nice views.

Irinel and Juri bought this wonderful farm with a wonderful view down to a river valley about two years ago. Irinel runs a Haflinger breed there and also trains other horses, some of which are transported to her from quite far away. In addition to his social project in Fort McPhearson, Juri has various other projects, including an ambitious cattle breeding together with a friend. Their daughter Lara with her little son also lives on the farm. From the first moment on, we are taken as part of the family. Since there is currently no room in the house, we get a bedroom in the stable, in which we are very comfortable. We spend the afternoon chatting and talking about the farm's animal world: Ronan, a big black dog, five cats, a couple of pot-bellied pigs, calves, goats, chickens and of course a dozen of horses. It is a Farm Idyll!

Juri and Irinel tell us that they had heavy wildfires in their area last year and they had to fight for their farm. Although the area has already been under evacuation, they did stay and successfully fought all the fires threatening their farm. A struggle for existence, which will be in their mind forever.

After a delicious meal, we are tired and go to bed and quickly fall asleep in the scent of leather saddles and hay.
