Day 43: Shuswap (Chase) - Lillooet
Sunshine! Hard to believe. We get a good breakfast at the B & B with a pancake (grandma's recipe), homemade apple jelly, orange juice, toast ...
The road lead us along the Nicola Valley, with many lakes, pastures and smooth hills. Then it is getting a bit more mountainous and the vegetation is more like in the prairie - we are riding along the Fraser River. In Spencer's Bridge, the road first leads to the south to Lytton and then back north to Lillooet. We see mountain goats, anglers and salmon, endless freight trains, the confluence of the Fraser River and Thompson River in Lytton, rapids, great mountains, rugged mountains. A wonderful ride.
In Lillooet we choose the BC Hydro campground, on which we find a nice site. Because there's no drinking water, we have to ride to Lillooet to get some more water, some beer and something for dinner.
Unfortunately, then we get the message that Wolles mother has been sent into hospital for intensive care. So we have a rather restless and short sleep interrupted by the sounds of the phone which we don't turn off for getting news about her.
The site itself is very cozy and on an evening walk we pass some grazing deers and hear a owl's cry.
