Day 54: Gordon Lake Campground - Victoria

In the morning it starts to rain a bit and we hurry to pack up the tent so it does not get too wet.

Therefore we have breakfast in the next town. Finally pancakes with maple syrup and bacon.

We ride a very nice winding road down to the west coast near Renfrew. On the way we have a break at a huge old cedar and enjoy the marvellous views again and again.

The road along the coast offers some detours to the beach. This also always means a piece of steep footpath. At one point we do that and discover a beautifully located walk-in campsite. Hiking on this stretch of coast must be wonderful.

Unfortunately we do not get dry to Victoria. The last 30-40 kilometers we have plenty of rain.

We ride to the visitor center and search for a hotel for the night - sitting and dripping on the floor. Our choice, the Victorian-style Amethyst Inn turns out to be Chinese-run and pretty nice.

We take a taxi to the center for having dinner in a Southamerican-Asian restaurant.

Fortunately, there is less rain in the evening, so we can have a walk while waiting for seats in the restaurant.
