Day 18: Westfork Campground - Tok (Eagle Claws Motorcycle Campground)
I did a lot of tinkering on the campground, put the front wheel guard on again, repaired the blinker and did not get off until about 2 pm, even though I got up really early. I could lend some tools from the operator of the campground, Klaus, like many other campground hosts here a German descent - because many German tourists are here.
I ride the almost 100 km to Tok to the Motorcycle Campground. The ride is beautiful with wonderful views of the countryside and mountains. But I'm a little tense because there is still a lot to do on the bike. Unfortunately, the rear tire loses air again, a small metal pin is the culprit.
In Tok I ask in the Tourist Information where I can buy a sim card, but the store has already closed (and it turns out later that I can get a SIM card here at all!).
At the campground I meet an Icelandic (Guðmundur), two Americans on an old Goldwing (Mike and Pam) and Daniel from Colombia with a BMW - we are five on the campground and I have a very nice evening. I could have chosen a tepee or a cabin, all very nice here, including a sauna every evening. And that for US$ 15.
The plan for tomorrow:
Continue to Fairbanks to a BMW dealer, which should be well equipped according to Daniel. I have to check how many miles I still have to ride from here and whether I have to change the rear tire or to get it mended.
