Day 11: Frances Lake - Little Salmon Lake

This is my first day all alone. I was already up at dawn this morning, but it took a long time with breakfast and packing and I did not leave until around half past ten.

The road is unpaved, but easy to ride. I fuel up in Ross River and meet a motorcyclist from New York on his way home, who tells me a lot about his route and gives some of his maps to me. I get some supplies (I'm running out of water). The campgrounds along the route offer water, but you have to boil it for 10 minutes before it is drinkable.

I look at the bridge over the Ross River and then make a detour on the South Canol Road to a canyon in which a little river meanders like in a picture book. My stop for today is the Little Salmon Lake and I can pitch my tent right on the beach, wonderful.

Camping here is really great. However, I have find a solution for getting power. The first camera battery is already empty.

Today there is one more remaining bag with a ready-to-eat meal. Tomorrow I will head to the Dempster Highway in the hope that the weather will stay fine for the next few days.
