Day 39: Breiðavík – Djupidalur
We continue on to Rauðalur – a beach with red sand – and a fantastic bay. The campsite is just okay, and it’s actually still too early to stop, so we make a quick detour to the far end of the bay, grab some soup and a waffle, and drive on.
Djupidalur is our final stop in the Westfjords. Despite the poor weather and less-than-ideal visibility, we’ve had two amazing weeks amidst these spectacular landscapes.
Unfortunately, however, the leak in the cabin is becoming a real issue. We’ve checked the screws on the awning and the roof struts and tweaked the seal at the front of the tent section, but none of that is the culprit. That means the water must be getting into the lower frame rail either through the front hinge or the welded joints.
We don’t sleep well... By now, far too much is wet for us to simply carry on like this.
