Day 03: Tornby Strand Camping (nearby Hirtshals) – Smyril Line ferry terminal

The ferry leaves at 10:30; you’re supposed to be at the Smyril Line check-in about two hours before departure. It’s unbelievable – the ferry is fully booked. So many crazy people voluntarily trading the beautiful early-summer weather on the mainland for the freezing cold of Iceland.

Our cabin is nice, though a strong smell of solvents spreads through it at some point in the evening. Someone must have been painting near the air conditioning intake. Phew. By bedtime, though, it’s fine again.
