Day 17: Ásbyrgi – Húsavik

We take a leisurely drive along the coast to Húsavík – *the* place for tourist whale-watching tours. At around 85 euros per person, it’s not overly expensive (small boat, 3 hours), but the sea is expected to be choppy this afternoon, the weather is set to turn bad starting tomorrow, and even the person at the ticket counter doesn't seem entirely convinced about selling us a ticket. We decide against it, especially since reports from others haven't exactly been enthusiastic. We’ve already had the amazing experience of seeing orcas and a humpback whale up close in Canada, and we even spotted whales from the shore in South Africa. So, we’re fine to skip it.

Instead, we visit the whale museum. It costs 20 euros per person – and it’s worth it. The skeleton of a blue whale alone – the largest and heaviest animal on Earth – is hugely impressive.

We spend the rest of the afternoon reading, running (Wolle), and doing exercises (Brigitte). It’s a day where we actually follow through on our good intentions. By the way, Wolle went for a run yesterday, too...

We’re having salad for dinner tonight, as we had fish and chips for lunch. The supermarket here might just be a "Netto," but it’s got a pretty good selection. So, we’ve stocked up on all sorts of things.
