Waterberg-Plateau – Meteorite Camp

Yesterday in the late afternoon, Astrid and Leo asked for a guided tour, which we are starting very early today. So we take down the tents and stand at the reception at 5:55 a.m. We are the only guests for the tour and our guide Stanley does a great job and even extends the duration of the tour by almost an hour. We learn that there is a "drink lager" bird (pidgeon) and a toilet paper tree with very soft leaves. Overall, a great ride with breathtaking views over the landscape. The green contrasts particularly well with the red earth. After Brigitte is the first to spot a giraffe, the glasses issue is forgotton.

At noon we drive on the gravel road to the northeast to the world's largest preserved meteorite. We stay at the totally quiet Meteorite Camp nearby and are the only guests there. After a hot day we enjoy the wonderful pool there.
