Halali – Okaukuejo (Etosha)

At night there is a heavy thunderstorm with lots of rain and in the morning our camper stands in the middle of a large water hole, where we have to move it out first.

The small rescue operation ensures a lot of joy.

Today we decide to have breakfast in the restaurant, where we get specially prepared, delicious, fresh omlets.

The day offers two spectacular events: In the morning a rhino walks alongside with us for quite a distance. Wonderful! Then we drive north to the Etosha Lookout, where you stand on a dam almost in the middle of the salt pan. Elsewise we see the day many water holes without water and without animals. Only the obligatory ungulates appear from time to time. There are very few birds to be seen.

Basically, the rest areas and especially the toilets are not really inviting.

Temperatures are between 30 and 35 degrees today and it is our first day without rain.

We usually go to bed early in the evening around 9 p.m. and are therefore already awake at 6 a.m. We enjoy the daily shower in the evening, even if it always turns out to be short for water saving reasons.
