Epupa-Falls – Olifantrus/Etosha

The night was restless, there was a real storm and some palm fronds fell down. A blessing not on our tent.

For breakfast, the dogs put a dead meerkat at our feet – not so tasty.

The drive to Ruacana is more boring than expected, you don't really get to the Kunene on the new road – probably similar to the old one. There are a few nice looks, but that's all.

It's too early for a campsite, the options aren't all that great either, so we decide to continue straight to Etosha Park.

In Ruacana there is no diesel, but later at a junction at a probably quite new gas station. Lucky. so we are not depending on the gas stations in the Etosha.

We arrive at the gate in time so that we can drive to Olifantrus. There we meet the same bad-tempered woman as three years ago and get an emergency place like three years ago because we don't have a reservation. But good that we are here.

Unfortunately, it is raining and looks really dark. A quick leftover meal saves us, followed by a visit to the viewing platform. There is nothing to see there except a few turtles in the water hole and the really impressive thunderbolts. Finally we climb up into the tent a bit clammy and from time to time thinking the world is ending. What a storm.

Note for the Etosha:
At the gate you have to state how many days you want to stay in Etosha. If you are not sure, you only need to give the minimum duration and pay for it. If you stay longer (overstay), you can pay at the reception of the stations in the Etosha and probably also at the gates, when leaving, for the additional night(s). However, we do not know if this is also possible in the high season.
