Ugab Camp – Wild Camp in the Torra area
Already a week on the road, hard to believe.
We wake up quite early and have a cozy breakfast after dismantling the tent. Actually, Astrid was always responsible for the fruit salad, now we always have to do it ourselves. And another insider: The pink pills (day two) again lead to unexpected outbursts of cheerfulness.
The journey north is spectacular. Some challenging rock passages and crossings of dry creek beds, fantastic views, changing landscapes, ostriches with chicks, large herds of springbok, vultures at a waterhole.
During the day we pass a kind of tented camp (Kuidas), but since it is too early in the day for us, we don't stop here. The day is getting long (8 hours for 105 km!!!), partly due to the "pad", partly due to the many photo stops.
So we don't make it to Bergsig anymore, but look for the first real wild campsite.
Shortly before sunset, countless birds gather in a nearby bush, chirping loudly as they reflect on the day and, as it gets darker, retreat further into the bush, where they quietly stay for the night.
Hopefully the night will be free of surprises. Wolle is quite sure of that!
