Sambia
We also only see a small part of Zambia, primarily Lusaka and the Kafue National Park.
We spend a total of 7 nights in Lusaka. We pick up our new solar panel there (ordered from "Take a lot", the South African Amazon, and delivered from Johannesburg to Lusaka by Icypeed, a specialized shipping company). Becky gets a new shock absorber (it was definitely about time, as we can see after the removal). And we meet a motorcyclist who we have known since Liberia (unfortunately he had a small accident).
Lusaka is a modern city, but manageable and tidy – we get along well with it, even though we haven't really liked big cities in Africa so far. We have a great campsite a little outside of town and feel comfortable here overall.
The people are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, we don't sense any reservations about us as white people.
Zambia seems to us to be prospering, albeit at a low level. According to Wikipedia and our travel guide, Zambia is still one of the poorest countries. But we see commerce, industry, and a wide range of goods. There is certainly considerable poverty in rural areas, but to us it feels different than much of what we saw on the west coast.
We are looking forward to exploring Zambia further next year.
