Day 03: A first day hiking

After a night with a little restless sleep, we first get some rolls and have breakfast on the sunny balcony. Then we hike to the intermediate station of the mountain railway, the so-called Millennium Express. The station is at the Tressdorfer Alm. Here they produce cheese. Large cheese wheels have just been washed and are now being returned to the warehouse. On Saturday most of the cows were driven into the valley and new cheese is no longer produced. They are gradually preparing for the coming winter season.

We take the gondola up to the Madridschen. There we have a wonderful view and we get some orientation first. You can see all the way to the Mittagskogel, the Hochstuhl (moutains we have climbed in earlier holidays) and the Triglav in Slovenia.

We go down along the nicely laid out Aqua Trail to the Rudnigalm, where we have lunch. The descent from there is faster than expected and by 3 p.m. we are back in our apartment for coffee.
