Day 56: Belgorod

It's Saturday and Dimi's parents do not have to go to work. So we drive together with his father to Belgorod and look out from a viewpoint to the city, which - like many other Russian cities - isn't a very beautiful sight. We walk around a little bit and meet Dimi's father again later. With his car, we drive to a suburb, to attend a historic spectacle, but it is staged quite amateurish. Impressive is the presentation of a historic battle formation with firing muskets.

We treat ourselves to a good shashlik and Dimi tries some sweet mead, but then soon we go back to the city. Dimi's father makes a detour to his workplace, where I can sit into a UAZ 452, a Russian-made van which is famous and can be often seen in all Central Asian countries and which seems indestructible.

Dimi and I go to his favorite café in Belgorod again, where we talk intensively. I learn a lot about life in Russia during these two days.

In the evening we are again wonderfully cared for by his mom. Gorgeous, if you can enjoy such a wonderful family accommodation.
