Day 16: Nearby Undurkhangai - Numrug
I slept well and long. No shower in morning of course.
In Songino there is a nice street with many shops and restaurants and we order dumblings with goat for lunch again.
And now I'm standing somewhere in nowhere and waiting for Trevor and Orvar, who wanted to go ahead, but somehow took the wrong way and should come along here. At least a few Mongols told me that two other motorcyclists did take another road. And so we now don't know where the others are. I'm waiting for about half an hour and then will follow Dan and Sara, who have already went ahead. Sara was falling down twice today, Orvar and Trevor each once - a challenging, exhausting day. I was well today, but had to struggle too with the road(s). Partly you have part 6 to 8 tracks to choose from, there is not only ONE road. All the time you have to check your direction, comparing it with the route the satnav shows. And then you have to care the cars and trucks coming from the opposite direction on different tracks. Now just in this moment two Mongols are passing by and look if everything is ok with me. This is reassuring. (Note from Brigitte: a strong wind blows, the audio was not very good to understand)
Well, Trevor and Orvar do not seem to come here anymore. I'm going back a bit, and then follow Sara and Dan. Riding alone I'm more cautious.
We all meet again in the next town and select a hotel. Well, rooms, beds, no running water (in the whole town), earth closet outside (stinks disgustingly). We can use the kitchen to prepare our own dinner - noodles with tomato sauce. Maybe not the worst choice to cook ourselves. There are a few stores in town, but nothing else. This is really far from our normal living conditions. The nearest town is in more than 100 km distance, connected on really bad roads. But the people here nevertheless have a really great life affirmation. Despite the - from our point of view - bad living conditions.
The ride today was exhausting, sometimes it was really great, sometimes I was very lucky not to fall down. We're all pretty tired. Great day, great impressions, a real adventure. Here are not really a lot of tourists. I'm glad to be able to do this.
