Day 36: Issyk Kul - Song Kul
After I made it back to the Issyk Kul (lake) yesterday and found a nice camping spot there, I'm trying to relax a bit today.
These 3-in-one-coffee-mix is quite ok and gives you at least the illusion of a coffee - with bread and honey a real breakfast! Then I clean the headlights, then the pots for cooking and later myself in the lake.
Today, I want to go up to Song Kul, which is in about 3,000m altitude, only about 148 km in distance.
I pass by a lake that is used for energy production. The scenery is great, mighty and barren mountains, sometimes like thrown down rocks. I'm happy about the new camera.
In the supermarket of a small town I get some stuff, like canned beans, tomato puree, noodles and a sausage. I also refill my 4l waterbag.
Then it comes to the gravel road up to the lake and into the mountains. Really very impressive. I coming from the north, riding along the eastern side of the lake in late afternoon light, and finally finding a spot in the south-western corner of the lake. I'm camping nearby some yurts and animal pastures, but visually protected by two hills. I had read that here in the area wolves living and one should not stay at too lonely places. While cooking, I'm continuously taking pictures of the evening light. It becomes night at 8pm.
Now I'm lying in the tent - yawn - and hope it's not getting too cold - but I've already wearing some warm clothes. The day today was pleasantly stress-free.
