Merzouga - Erfroud - Tinghir - Todra gorge

Brigitte:

It was very warm at night, so slept not very well. After a good breakfast we ride on to Tinghir. In Erfoud we want to change money and are addressed from some guy again (in quite fluent German!). Sometime this sucks sometimes it's ok. In this case, it was not bad, because the guy shows us that you can also exchange at the teller machine. But of course he also wants to guide us to his shop.

A small stopover for a tea at a place where you can see old water wells from the 17th century.

We are very early in Tinghir and meet Marc, a Frenchman, whom Wolle met on Facebook. Strange. Very sympathetic. We have lunch together (Berber omelette) and chatting for an hour and then Marc rides on to Merzouga and we to our accommodation - on a gravel road. The small Kasbah Petit Nomade is located on the outskirt of the town and is magical. 3 rooms around a small courtyard (two rooms are occupied by two French couples. Mariko, a Japanese woman, with whom we chat during dinner, seems to be accommodated in another building. Two very nice hosts and for a total of 600 dirhams with dinner (soup, tagine, fruit salad) a great and cheap place to stay. But before that, Wolle and I - after we have rescheduled for about the tenth time - are still riding on a bit further into the Todra Gorge. Very impressive as touristic, very nice. All in all a long day. In the evening my knees hurts.

We are planning the next two days and notice that on Saturday a lot of accommodations are already booked. Tired, tired. Actually it is completely silent at night, but chirping the crickets and in the morning early chirping birds ...
