Tuesday: Arkoúdi - Stemnítsa

Arkoúdi - Pírgos - Olympia - Dimistána - Stemnítsa

In the morning we have breakfast at a beach bar (and thus we paid 45 € for the night) and get a business card of the hotel Soulis (currently 60 Euros tells us Elisabeth, the British companion of the German, who had addressed us in the evening).

On the way we stop at a pharmacy, the stitches are very annoying at night! The pharmacist gets the doctor from next door, which calls for her English speaking assistant - asking me, where I was staying ... I should go over for an official consultation, passing by all the people in there, then the stitches are examined by four people. In the meantime, I suspect that I have taken the stitches from some insects living in the old cloths which you are offered to enter the monasteries. I do not like to take antibiotics, but the cortisone ointment is a big relief. Wolle thanks the people waiting at the doctor in English for the patience and the assistant smilingly answers "We are Greeks".

Olympia: well, the tip is first to go to the museum and then walk around the area, you can imagine a lot better then actually.

Pretty places in the mountains, the houses build from the gray stone of the rocks. There are always two smells on these rides, a very sweet floral scent and an almost spicy one, reminiscent of very early trips to Greece and Italy, when you trudged through the area in the heat of the day with your backpack.

After some searching (the planned small pension in Karítena is occupied) we took a guesthouse in Stemnítsa, very nice elderly people. Wolle asked a person at the kiosk, who pointed to the cafe, in the cafe one of table of gamblers is pointing to an elderly lady, this leads Wolle to her daughter. She speaks very good English and is extremely helpful - she could become tourism manager of the place!

In the evening on the road we saw two plate-sized turtles!

After dinner in the cafe, a have a digestive and two homemade delicious sweets. Chatted with a German traveler who seems to have traveled a lot and often prefers to sleep in the car.
