Kyffhäuser – Leipzig

In the morning we have breakfast and coffee and are soon on our way up to the Kyffhäuser. The 36-turn track is a good morning exercise for Leo's cornering technique.

We visit the Monument to Wilhelm I, one of 300 monuments built for the monarch who died at the age of 90. What a  madness! Admission is quite high at €8.50, but worth it when the weather is nice. Unfortunately we have some bad luck with the view.

When we returned to the motorbikes from the tower, the parking lot gradually fills up a bit, including 4 Swedish motorcyclists with whom we chat a bit.

We decide to ride a little around the area before we are heading towards Halle and Leipzig. At the beginning there are also some nice stretches and curves. In vain we head for some of the many closed inns on the way and only find something to eat at a snack bar called "field kitchen": pea soup from the goulash cannon.

Then we head on further to the east and Halle. We are on a somewhat boring country road and when I see a castle (Rammelsburg) I decide to make a detour, which – how could it be otherwise – then turns into an excursion on a gravel road mostly through forest. Very nice. Leo handles this route very well with street tires on his not too familiar motorbike.

In Halle we take a coffee break on the market square. But since we're already a little late, we soon head towards Leipzig, avoiding the autobahn again.

Shortly after 6 p.m. we arrive at Lenni's place, who lives in an enchanted allotment garden. Very cozy.

In the evening Leo and I ride to the center of Leipzig on my bike, where we meet Lenni for dinner, who rode in on his bicycle.

Leo and Lenni sleep in the cottage, I sleep on a fold-out sofa on the terrace in front of it.
