Riding to the East ...

... you should be aware, that you will loose time every day.

I wasn't aware about that fact until a few days before I started my journey. One day Brigitte (my wife) reckoned, that when I'm in Mongolia, we will have 6 or 7 hours difference in day time and started to talk about how we can communicate the best under this circumstances.

Suddenly it make "click" in my brain and I was getting aware about the problem of time shifting during my journey. With some horror I realized that I would have a total of 5 hours time shift on the route from Hamburg to Barnaul (some 6000 kilometers), for which I had estimated 8 days. The already tough itinary was getting even tougher from one moment to the other.

So: When planning a trip to the East, do not forget to consider the time shift!
