Knysna – Oudtshoorn

Continue from Knysna over the Seven Passes. Only take 6 of them, because yesterday we already had the Phantom Pass. In this case, pass means both the valley and the river crossing as well as the hill. Most of the route is gravel. Brigitte loves to drive here.

At Wilderness there are more long beaches, but without a bath this time we continue to George and Oudtshoorn. We decide to drive the Swartberg Pass today. Weather and sight are great and the pass offers many great sightseeing points. Wolle howls the whole time that he wants to ride a motorcycle. The gravel roads are not difficult. And so we can drive the Swartberg Pass in both directions, even with our rental car.

At the end of the day, there is another 20-kilometer dirt road to the Thabile Lodge, an unpretentious place to stay at the first glance, but thanks to the friendly hosts and the excellent cuisine, it is absolutely fantastic. We would like to stay one night longer.

The dinner is by far the best we have ever had in South Africa. It will be difficult to leave tomorrow.
