Tsitsikamma National Park – Knysna

It is hard for us to say good-bye to this beautiful place, knowing that it will probably be the last stop with wildlife and/or nature.

After breakfast on the terrace, we do a detour not far away. The Nature Valley is a charming, idyllic, small lagoon behind a sandy beach, which is several kilometers long. A tranquil place for kayaking, bathing, relaxing, hiking, biking ... Maybe for a next time.

At yesterday's walk we spotted a bird, just starting, the wings at the bottom bright red. Unfortunately, we could not spot him again. Therefore we decided to visit the Birds of Eden, the world's largest bird aviary. There are about 20000 sqare meters covered with a huge net and one may forget it's an artifical landscape. Reminds us of the film "Truman Show", but nevertheless to observe the birds there is great fun.

Next stop: Plettenberg Bay. The beaches along the Garden Route are fantastic, miles of sand and waves. And so we use the opportunity for a refreshing bath.

Knysna receives us with poorer weather, a lot of tourism, a not optimally located Guesthouse and for the first time on this journey our mood is going down. Spontaneously we would probably passed by Knysna. Probably the reason is a too rapid return to the civilization of Western style. Too many people, too much traffic, shops with superfluous junk, a modern "waterfront" with many places and too much hustle and bustle. Again, unfortunately, not the best food. Finally fish, but this fat-dripping and so garlic-containing, that we smell it the whole night and even the whole next day. Phew!
