Saturday

Today we have chosen a longer and more strenuous hike.

First we take the bus from Flims to Bargis. So we spare already over 400 meters of altitude. But we have to pay a price for it, about 10 euros for one way tickets for both of us. You get almost a 9 o'clock group day ticket for the same price in Hamburg.

From Bargis, a steep ascent follows a beautifully laid out old paving path to the top of a alp and from there continously ascending to the Flimserstein. Our highest location today is at 2695 meters. Great views and panoramas.

According to our hiking guide we should actually return from the Fil de Cassons on the same mountain massif. But we decide to descend through the northern valley, because of the somewhat hazy view to the South. This valley was recommended to us by a Swiss couple, we met after the ascend, and it also made a very nice impression from above. A good decision. The whole length of the valley is quite long, but we have wonderful views again, so we do not regret this decision.

We arrive in Bargis quite exhausted and order two beers and a sausage salad. We get two small beers and need two more. We still wonder about the bill of about 34 euros for that.

For the bus down to Flims (approximately 8 km distance) we have to pay about 10 euros again. We are just arriving the local supermarket (COOP) as one of the last customers to buy a baguette for dinner. There is an emergency atmosphere in the supermarket. Probably all customers are foreign tourists, who do not want to be dependent on Swiss restaurants for the weekend.

As soon as we get home and get a shower, a thunderstorm begins. The weather for the next few days won't probably be so good. We'll see.
