Ronchi dei Legionari

In the morning we will drive to Trieste with the motorbike of my friend to see the Barcolana, a sailing regatta that has been taking place since 1969.

For me, the ride as a pillion is a new experience. No idea when I was last a pillion rider. It is funny to watch and feel anothers motorbikers moving after so many kilometers as rider. My friend drives carefully with me as pillion like if he's transportating a raw egg.

First we go to Monte Grispi, but we learn that the regatta is started not before 11:30 am, so we decide to go for a cafe first and then move to another place, where the sight should even better.

Unfortunately, we can't confirm the better view, because there are a lot of trees, which hinder a free sight. But nevertheless it's nice to observe the spectacle. It is exciting to see, how fast the big racing boats depart from the bulk of the sailing boats. Alfa Romeo The first sailing ship crossing the finish is from Alfa Romeo, and did the triangle in less than an hour.

On the way back a small transporter with a volleyball team on board pushes the right case of the not moving motorcycle. The driver then mumbled my friend that if he had not been in the way, he would not have hit him. Brilliant logic and an example of Italian failure culture!

In the afternoon we make it to Festa di Castagne. Meeting Marino (from Ronchi) and Katrin (from Estonia). Nice afternoon and evening with all these friends.
